"Global Village has changed my life. That is such a simple sentence but it holds so much truth. I have gone on 2 GV trips and counting, and have become completely infected with passion for this program. Father Daughter 2013 was one of the most life changing experiences of my life. We met 2 families who were in desperate need for a home and we were lucky enough to be a part of giving that to them. We had a group of 18 fathers and daughters go to San Vicente, El Salvador in February to help build two homes for deserving families, when really building these homes made us a family. The relationships you make on these trips are ones to never be forgotten, they can't be described or understood completely but you just know that coming together to do something so selfless and give back in such a way is life altering. When we arrived at our build site it was full speed ahead. We were digging trenches and mixing cement by hand, we were visiting with the people from our host country and making memories every single day. You work harder on these trips than you ever will in your lifetime. The motivation behind the work you put in pushes you harder and harder everyday. All of a sudden you see a 20 year old 120lb girl lifting a 100lb bag of cement with ease. I believe with all my heart that no matter how much you give on these trips, no matter how hard you work and how much you sweat, you still get so much more than you give. The feeling of knowing you have helped build a house from the ground up is something that is hard to describe, you just need to get out there and do a Global Village trip for yourself."
