Jennifer St. Onge went with an open-team with Global Village to Nepal in April 2012. We stayed a few days in Kathmandu and the build site was in the south-eastern region of Jhapa. It was an incredible experience to help build a house for a wonderful family who are really in need, as well as see such a beautiful and unique country.

Howard and Christeen Jesse took part in the first ever Fathers and Daughters team. Never before in the history of Global Village has a combination of Fathers and Daughter formed a build team – given what happened to us all it is truly a loss to all those who could have come before us, but a template for any others that wish to find the experience we shared.

Dan Flegel went on an open trip with 15 people to Zambia in April 2012. When people ask me about this trip, I always tell them: "I saw a lot, and learned a lot". I saw the Africa that I had seen in atlases and heard about in news coverage. It was like a validation of a small, childhood dream.

Last year, a group of friends and colleagues from Regina travelled to El Salvador to take part in a Global Village Habitat for Humanity build. They paid for the trip out of their own pocket and spent their vacation working in +30 degree temperatures, building homes for families who needed a helping hand.
